联合国秘书长古特雷斯通过发言人发表声明，强烈谴责今天一名巴勒斯坦肇事者在耶路撒冷一座犹太会堂外发动恐怖袭击，造成至少七名以色列人死亡，多人受伤。
秘书长向遇难者家属表示衷心的慰问，并祝愿伤者早日康复。
古特雷斯指出，“尤其令人憎恶的是，袭击发生在一个礼拜场所，而就在我们纪念‘缅怀大屠杀受难者国际纪念日’的当天。任何理由都不能成为实施恐怖主义的借口。所有恐怖主义行径必须受到所有人的明确谴责和拒绝。”
秘书长同时对以色列和巴勒斯坦被占领土目前的暴力升级深感担忧。
他强调，“当前需要保持最大限度的克制”。
此前一天，九名巴勒斯坦人死亡
在周五的事件发生之前，以色列军队在被占领土约旦河西岸杰宁的一个难民营采取突击搜查行动时引发枪战，造成至少九名巴勒斯坦人死亡，另有约20人在突袭中受重伤。这是多年来被占领土死亡人数最多的一天。
周五早些时候，巴勒斯坦加沙地带的武装人员向以色列发射了火箭弹，以色列则进行了空袭。
不同文明联盟高级代表强烈谴责
联合国不同文明联盟高级代表莫拉蒂诺斯今天也发表声明，强烈谴责这起在星期五的安息日祈祷后针对犹太信徒发动的“可怕的恐怖袭击”。
他强调，这种令人发指的行径不论在何时何地发生、由何人所为，都是不可开脱的犯罪行为。
