联合国秘书长古特雷斯10日通过发言人发表声明称，他已注意到巴基斯坦前总理伊姆兰·汗于9日在伊斯兰堡被捕后爆发的抗议活动，并呼吁各方避免使用暴力。
据媒体最新报道，在伊斯兰堡的一处警察招待所里，伊姆兰·汗在一名法官面前否认了腐败指控，他目前正被拘留于此。
据称，一旦被定罪，伊姆兰·汗将无缘参加今年晚些时候举行的选举。他曾于2018年至2022年期间担任巴基斯坦总理。
有报道称，就在前一天，数十名安全部门人员对伊姆兰·汗实施了抓捕，并将其从法庭上带到一辆警车里，这引发了其支持者的广泛抗议。
据报道，巴基斯坦全国大约有1000人被捕；到目前为止，已有八人在抗议活动中死亡，数百人受伤。此外，随着抗议活动的继续，该国的移动互联网和社交媒体访问据称于10日中断，人口最多的旁遮普省也关闭了中小学和大学。
另据报道，旁遮普省有数百人被捕，至少25辆警车被点燃，130名警察在冲突中受伤，一些政府建筑遭到洗劫。
秘书长古特雷斯在声明中表示已注意到该国爆发的抗议活动，并呼吁各方避免使用暴力。
同时，他强调必须尊重和平集会的权利。
古特雷斯还敦促巴基斯坦当局在对前总理伊姆兰·汗提起的诉讼中尊重正当程序和法治。
